29th Annual HENAAC Conference

The 29th Annual HENAAC Conference powered by Great Minds in STEM and hosted by Lockheed Martin Corporation, Shell Oil Company and Northrop Grumman, was held in the beautiful city of Pasadena, CA from October 18-22, 2017.

GMiS showcased “Destiny Driven by Determination” convening close to 3,000 individuals from all sectors of science, computing, engineering and math within academia, government, military and corporate America. The Conference was held in association with three wonderful organizations, the CAHSI - Computing Alliance of Hispanic- Serving Institutions, the CHCI- Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute and NOGLSTP - National Organization for Gay and Lesbian Science and Technical Professionals, and drew a diversity of high caliber STEM students, from a broad array of institutions, as the conference continues to be a competitive recruiting forum for STEM diversity. Great Minds in STEM proudly hosted top executives, senior management, recruiters, college students, faculty and administrators, as well as middle school and high school students, teachers, and administrators through its various conference tracks.

Pre-college students and K-12 educators experienced motivational sessions and hands-on STEM workshops. College students along with professional attendees were able to once again participate in a variety of seminars workshops and competitions that promoted leadership and learning. Participants were able to engage in technical and professional development seminars, an energetic Speed Networking Breakfast, the Career and Graduate School Fair the CAHSI Hackathon, the HENAAC College Bowl and the Research Papers and Posters Competition. Great Minds in STEM also awarded over $561,743 in student travel, registrations, awards, as well as scholarships to HENAAC Scholars for their academic achievements and leadership.
