Corporate Tours

Registration for any of the corporate tours takes place during the online conference registration process. This means you must register and pay for your conference attendance to be placed on any of the corporate tours list.

Please note that the priority deadline to register for any of these tours is September 20, 2016, to allow ample time for any security clearances. While students may sign-up for these tours after September 20, there is no guarantee of being placed on the list. So register early!!

Northrop Grumman
Aerospace Systems Tour

Description: In this walking tour, college students will visit the headquarters of Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems Sector to see the design, development, and manufacture of defense and space systems. Included in the tour will be a viewing of the company’s James Webb Space Telescope, which is a key program for NASA and central to the nation’s ground and space based astrophysics program and the Aerospace In Motion tour. The Aerospace in Motion is an interactive area all about Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems’ rich history, current capabilities, and exciting future. Included is a fighter jet simulator game where you can choose between a F/A 18 Super Hornet or F-35 Joint Strike Fighter and then dog fight or destroy ground targets!

Chevron
El Segundo Refinery Tour

Description: During this presentation and Riding Facility Tour, students will visit Chevron’s El Segundo Refinery to learn how Engineers (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical and Civil) along with Health, Environmental, and Safety professionals collaborate to produce Gasoline, Jet fuel and Diesel for one of the largest transportation fuels markets in the world. The presentation will provide an overview of Chevron opportunities, discipline specific discussions from facility engineering and management personnel, an overview of refinery operations as well as a riding facility tour.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Students must have the legal right to work in the US without needing sponsorship now or in the future. Must have valid government issued ID.
  • All undergraduate and graduate students
  • Preferred Major Fields of Study:  Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, and Information Technology

Boeing Company Date & Time

Description:
The Boeing Company will provide two separate tours – a tour to their Huntington Beach facility and a tour to their El Segundo facility. Fifteen (15) students will be accommodated on the 2-hour Huntington Beach tour. Twenty (20) students will be accommodate on the 1-hour El Segundo tour. Both are walking tours so closed-toed shoes required. Valid government picture ID required (school ID does not count).

El Segundo is the largest satellite factory in the world, encompassing more than 1 million square feet. In 50 years, the plant has produced satellites used for research, exploration, communication, navigation, entertainment, intelligence and surveillance. The SDC produced the first spacecraft to make a fully controlled soft landing on the moon and the first spacecraft to penetrate Jupiter's atmosphere. It also provided the radar for the Magellan spacecraft that took detailed images of Venus' surface.
