HENAAC is now Great Minds in STEM!
HENAAC™, a non-profit organization promoting careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, is creating a new overall name to the organization – Great Minds in STEM™. We are doing this to reflect the expanded role of our Education Programs and other efforts we are taking to promote STEM careers in underrepresented communities.

HENAAC Scholars Program
For the second consecutive year, the HENAAC Scholars Program has awarded educational grants to over 100 deserving STEM students!  In its eleventh year, Great Minds in STEM was proud to present scholarships to 108 outstanding future engineers and scientists that are the "HENAAC Scholars Class of 2011". In addition to their educational grant, the HENAAC scholarship recipients received complimentary Conference registration, lodging and travel. This year all scholarship recipients were invited guests at the Salute to STEM Military and Civilian Heroes Dinner which was followed by the 3rd Annual HENAAC Scholars Meet and Greet. This was a very well attended event where scholars were able to meet their scholarship sponsor prior to the general HENAAC Conference activities. The two exceptional Student Leadership Award Graduate and Undergraduate recipients addressed the audience at the Student Leadership Dinner where all scholarship recipients had their checks and a certificate presented to them by the twenty-four program sponsors.

HENAAC Scholars Program History

The HENAAC Scholars Program addresses the immense need that the United States has to produce more domestic engineers and scientists. The goal of the program is to ensure STEM college retention with a 3.0 grade point average or higher; to guarantee college graduation with an undergraduate technical degree in four-five years; and, to contribute to Hispanic communities by producing STEM role models for future generations and securing the country's place as the finest technological leader in the world.

The key to cultivating tomorrow's technology leaders is to recognize and support the leadership of today's outstanding STEM students. Great Minds in STEM began to move in this direction in 1997 when we partnered with the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) Foundation to present scholarships to the student leaders honored each year at the annual HENAAC Conference. The HENAAC Scholars Program was officially created in the year 2000 with the first scholarships being sponsored by the Ford Motor Company and presented at the HENAAC 2001 Conference.

In its eleventh year history, the HENAAC Scholars Program has shown tremendous growth and has distributed over $1,500,000 in educational grants to over 850 outstanding and deserving recipients.
