Anselmo Gallegos
General Motors

Anselmo began his academic career in the fall of 2007 at New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, located in Socorro, New Mexico. Four years later he graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering and was recognized by the university as a Tech Scholar. He also completed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam and holds the title of Engineer in Training in his state of residence.

Shortly after graduating, Anselmo was sought out by General Motors in Detroit, Michigan. He was offered a position as an Associate Manufacturing Engineer in the Global Body Manufacturing Engineering organization and since has gained experience in product integration, die and stamping engineering and manufacturing processing and program launch.

Today, Anselmo is a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, where he is responsible for oversight of the design, build and launch of automotive body closure assembly and installation systems for future vehicle programs.

Anselmo is an active member of the SHPE recruiting team, providing a strong, enthusiastic linkage for General Motors.  He understands the needs and demands of this technical organization and proudly represents the company in a highly competitive environment.  He is also a mentor in our current summer intern program, demonstrating the desire and capability to “give back” to others and provide leadership.  Last year, Anselmo was the Co-Lead that created a First Robotics Team at a Detroit Intercity Charter School, Cristo Rey High School. The team successfully went on to win the Rookie All Star Award, which exemplifies a young but strong partnership to inspire students.

In December of 2015, Anselmo earned a master’s in global automotive and manufacturing engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He has also been awarded a Design for Six Sigma Green Belt Certification from General Motors.
