Benjamin Polanco-Ramos

Benjamin Polanco-Ramos began his career with the U.S Army in 1974 and served on active duty in the U.S. Army Military Intelligence for over two decades attaining the rank of Chief Warrant Officer. While in the Military, Benjamin received the Humanitarian Service Medal and the South West Asia Medal for his service during the Persian Gulf War. After retiring from active military service, he continued to support the U.S. Army as a civilian. Currently he is serving as the Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) Portfolio Manager, ISR Directorate for the Communications and Electronics Command (CECOM). Benjamin supports the ISR Directorate Decision Making Process for selecting, optimizing, executing projects, and deploying products, and is responsible for Customer Relationship Management as well as developing business opportunities. He provides technical expertise to the Project Leaders and staff in conducting scenario planning and analysis.

In his previous role as Branch Chief, he spearheaded government and contractor teams in providing early acquisition support and post production software support for critical intelligence systems. An excellent leader, Benjamin goes out of his way to mentor his people and institutes an “open door” policy to promote communication and a healthy exchange of ideas. His enthusiasm and strong work ethic is recognized and admired by junior engineers who consider him a great mentor, and in turn he takes pride in helping to influence and mold the next generation of Army leaders. Benjamin is praised by his peers and superiors for adhering to Army values to ensure the needs of the soldier is always at the forefront.

Born in Lajas, Puerto Rico, Benjamin has three children with his wife of 37 years, Irma. His daughter, Aileen, recently graduated from Florida's, Saint Mathews University, School of Medicine. His oldest son, Benjamin Jr., is a Major in the U.S. Army Military Intelligence field and his youngest, Jean Carlos, is a senior at Towson University in Maryland, where he is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business. When he is not working, Benjamin devotes his free time to mentoring colleagues, peers and subordinates. He is an avid and accomplished golfer, and consistently utilizes his positive attitude in life to strive to find new goals to accomplish and things to learn.

He received his Bachelor's degree in Human Resources and Administration from Saint Leo University and a Master's degree in Information and Telecommunications Management of Systems from Capitol College in Maryland. He was honored by Great Minds in STEM with a 2013 Luminary Award.
