David Olivencia      

David Olivencia is an international business strategy and information technology executive with nearly two decades of diverse leadership experience directing multiple Global 500 organizations and prominent national non-profits. In his current position, Mr. Olivencia focuses on leveraging information technology to accelerate Verizon’s business goals. He provides leadership and oversight for all ITT strategy and strategic corporate IT programs and projects as part of the newly formed Changed Agent Team (CAT). Additionally, he is responsible for internal communications reaching a workforce of 18,000 and works across IT to lead external IT communications.

Prior to Verizon, Mr. Olivencia held various technology and business strategy leadership roles at Ford Motor Company, Nippon Telegraph & Telephone (NTT), the Treasury Department of Puerto Rico, and Accenture. He was a part of Oracle Corporation’s Latin American Consulting Division where he managed Cloud, Enterprise Architecture and Exa Series services lines of business. He grew the service line by millions of dollars in the first year and grew the service margin to 32% including global references. His customers included but were not limited to Banco Santander, B2W, Banco Popular Domicana, Columbus Communications, Grupo Mundial, Citigroup, Land O’Lakes, Fluor, GMAC, JWT, Target and 3M. Before his tenure at Oracle, Mr. Olivencia held various technology and business strategy leadership roles at Ford Motor Company, Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT), Treasury Department of Puerto Rico and Accenture.

Mr. Olivencia is a gifted speaker renowned for promoting technology’s impact on the business and corporate governance. He has addressed prominent forums including the United States Congress, National Association of Corporate Directors, NASDAQ Opening Bell, NASA, Business Week, Hobson’s, Comcast Newsmakers, among others. He currently serves on the Board of Notre Dame’s Mendoza School of Business and is also a part of Notre Dame’s Irish Angels Investor Network. Mr. Olivencia is also Co-founder and board member of the Hispanic IT Executive Council (HITEC) leading nearly 200 of this hemisphere’s leading technology executives to expand the pipeline of Hispanic technology senior executives and build world-class information technology and business leadership. He remains an active board member of the HITEC to this day, providing an executive development program, and hosting quarterly executive summits around the country.

Mr. Olivencia has been an outstanding mentor to many professionals. One mentee in particular credits this executive’s success to his confidence, focus and sense of responsibility. Confidence has allowed him to execute his vision for IT and developing leaders for the Hispanic community. Outlining and defining daily goals helps him maintain focus on what’s important in his career and life. And a sense of responsibility for his family and community motivates him to give back by sharing his knowledge and experiences, and connecting people together to increase the visibility of Hispanics, nationally.

In addition to his mentoring, Mr. Olivencia serves on the Board of Directors of the Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute with 10 members of the United States Congress. He’s been recognized in Hispanic Business Magazine’s Most Influential Hispanics in America, Crain’s Detroit 40 under 40, HACR’s young Corporate Achiever Award and NSHMBA’s 2006 Executive of the Year Award.

Mr. Olivencia is married and has three children. He currently resides with his family in Miami, Florida. He earned his undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and his M.B.A. cum laude from the University of Notre Dame. Mr. Olivencia is the 2012 HENAAC Award winner in Executive Excellence- Technology.
