Eric De Jesus Rentas      
Harris Corporation

Born and raised in the beautiful coastal city of Ponce, Puerto Rico, Eric De Jesus Rentas grew up one of three children as in a working class family who learned the value of education and strong work ethic from their parents.

Growing up, Eric was an enthusiastic student who also participated in several extracurricular activities including baseball and as a trumpet player for the school band. Graduating Summa Cum Laude from High School in 1992, and entered the Electrical Engineering Department at the University of Puerto Rico, the highest ranked university for engineering in Puerto Rico.

After completing his degree, Eric received a job offer to join Lucent Technologies Bell Labs in North Andover Massachusetts. During his tenure at Bell Labs, he made significant contributions to the System and Test Integration team and was shortly promoted to Team Leader.

After his tenure with Bell Labs, Eric continued to grow in the telecommunications field and got additional exposure working directly with customers working for Nortel Networks. In 2002, he enrolled full time with a full scholarship in the Master program for Engineering Management at Florida International University in Miami. After graduating, he worked with a globa communications company called Telefonica, before joining the Harris Corporation in Melbourne Florida in 2007 as a Test Engineer.

In his 8 years of experience with the Harris corporation, Eric's strong technical and leadership skills various promotions. In his current role as Senior Project Engineer, Eric is responsible for the technical leadership and project management of the design and development activities of Harris Government Communication System products. The products that Eric supports account for over 63% of the program’s FY14 sales. Eric has a passion for product improvement. As an Engineering leader he drives the use of stateof-the-art-technology by his team members so products can surpass expected performance while minimizing cost. He travels to different suppliers across the nation to ensure upmost quality and delivery of Harris’ products. He recently was awarded the prestigious 2014 Harris Corporation Product and Process Innovation Engineering Award for his contributions in a key program for the company.

Eric is a member of the Harris Hispanic team and supports the mentoring of new engineers. Eric selects and hires new employees into Harris to ensure that the new resource’s on boarding process is successful. Eric is happily married to his college sweetheart and has three beautiful children. Eric engrains the principles he was thought as a child to his children and celebrates with them the Hispanic culture they have inherited.
