Jose R. Font      
The Boeing Company




Jose R. Font has dedicated over a quarter century out of a stellar 33-year career to providing consistent leadership for The Boeing Company. Currently working on the 737MAX airplane program as the Senior Engineer Manager, Jose is a key leader for the Test Lab Integrated Product Team. In addition to full budget and schedule responsibility for hundreds of millions of dollars, he provides guidance in a matrix organization to approximately 650 engineers and technical employees.

One of five children, Jose's childhood was spent back and forth between Brooklyn, NY and Manati, Puerto Rico. Early in life, Jose learned to be an active community participant. He was a Boy Scout in Puerto Rico and also played in multiple municipal bands. Graduating with honors from high school Jose was accepted at the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez on scholarship as the lead saxophonist in the school's stage band.

He graduated with an Electrical Engineering degree from UPRM and maintains a strong relationship with the university. An Advisory Board Member for the School of Engineering, Jose enjoys mentoring young students and using his professional network to open doors for them in both Puerto Rico and the United States. For his continued involvement with the university, he was bestowed the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2011.

Upon graduation, Jose and his wife Aida moved to Seattle where he joined the Boeing Company. Early in his career, Jose's leadership talents were recognized and he was promoted to management. During the last 27 years, Jose has held numerous leadership positions within Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Boeing Military Airplane and Engineering Operations and Technology.

Recently, Jose served as the co-director for the Boeing/SEEA Ed Wells Partnership, a $24 million organization responsible for developing technical and personal development training for more than 20,000 Boeing engineering employees. Previously, Jose was the Co-Director for the Being SPEEA/Boeing Ed Wells Partnership and worked on high profile projects such as the 747-8 Intercontinental Airplane, 747/767, the 7X7 airplane to name a few.

Jose is a positive role model for Boeing employees of all ethnicities. He takes an active role in mentoring others and consistently helps employees in their personal and professional development. He acknowledges the impact that Boeing has had in his professional life and cherishes the support he receives when reaching out to inspire the next generation of top engineering talent.

Jose and Aida have two daughters, and his daughter Michelle also works for Boeing as an engineer. Jose earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez; a master’s degree in business administration from City University; and a master’s degree in technical management from Embry-Riddle University. He was honored by Great Minds in STEM with a Luminary Award in 2012.
