Sergio Carzoli
Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command

One of four children, Sergio Carzoli was born and raised in El Paso, Texas  by two working class parents in a Spanish speaking only home. Sergio spent most of his early years as a student in English Second Languages (ESL) classes, but recognizing that taking the easy way out would not benefit him, he made the decision to change his educational path.

Once in high school, Sergio opted to enroll in advanced honors courses that required him to put more of an effort than the students who were raised speaking English as their first language. He also joined the school’s wrestling program, eventually shining as the Varsity Team Captain. Here he adopted the attitude of never giving up, which was encouraged by his wrestling coach. Through this experience he learned the value of hard work ethic and began his development of leadership skills, which have been central to his life’s trajectories and transitions.

Immediately after graduating high school, Sergio enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed onboard two surface ships, the USS Sterett CG-31 and USS Cape Cod AD-43. During this time, he mastered the technical skills learned from the Navy’s Advanced Electronic Schools. After an honorable discharge from the Navy, Sergio enrolled at Saint Leo University in Tampa, Florida where he completed all required course work and in 2004 was granted a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems.

Today, Sergio is an IT Logistics Management Specialist for the U.S. Navy Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command Systems Service Center Pacific. In this capacity, Sergio is also responsible for representing the Navy’s IT support requirements at meetings, conferences, panels and IT Product Teams working with other Navy commands and industry partners. His analytical ability and comprehensive knowledge of IT logistics support principles, processes and disciplines have made him a well respected and knowledgeable leader in the industry.

He was handpicked for the massive task of managing a global logistic support organization for the Navy’s Tactical Networks program and masterfully developed and implemented an organizational logistic infrastructure providing technical and programmatic oversight for the Navy’s “Information Technology Superhighway.”

In an exceedingly competitive environment, Sergio’s leadership and IT logistics expertise is sought out by internal and external entities, helping place Systems Service Center Pacific at the forefront of IT support for Afloat Naval Networks. His most memorable accomplishments have been monumental – no other IT logistics manager has established an effective global support organization in such a short time.

During his time away from work, Sergio enjoys life as a family man. He appreciates the invaluable time he spends with his wife, Elizabeth and two children and credits them for his ability to overcome life’s trials and tribulations. He also finds time to continue to push and challenge himself through triathlons. A sport that has kept him dedicated enough to compete in two Ironman 70.3 races and three Olympic distance triathlons. Sergio was honored with a Military Hero Award in 2014 by Great Minds in STEM.
