Carlos Gonzalez, a senior electrical engineering student from the University of Central Florida (UCF) is a 2012 HENAAC-NASA Johnson Space Center Scholar. He was among eight students receiving a $1593 scholarship on behalf of this NASA Center.

Carlos began his college career at Brevard Community College, where he earned his associate of arts degree before transferring to UCF to study electrical engineering and computer science. At UCF, Carlos has been active with the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers and is a proud member of the Phi Theta Kapp Honor Society. He also obtained an internship with Lockheed Martin.

As a tutor and mentor for the Student Academic Resource Center at UCF, Carlos has honed his teaching, a newfound unyielding passion. It is that “ah-ha” moment among other students that serves as a motivation. He aspires to use his degree to reach out and inspire young people to learn more about technology. His goal is to become an engineering professional and an instructor at a local community college or high school.
