Scholar of the Week

Frank Osorio      
Jose State University

The 2015 Booz Allen Hamilton Scholarship recipient, Frank Osorio is a junior at San Jose State University pursuing a degree in electrical engineering.    A transfer from Hartnell College, Frank enjoys agriculture and technology. Raised by his mother and grandmother, Frank moved to Salinas to go to college, where he worked on a farm alongside his father, saving money to pay for college.

At Hartnell, Frank served as the Founder and President of the Engineering club and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), one of MESA's student leaders/tutors, and Senator-at-Large to the Associated Students of Hartnell College.

He completed an internship with the Naval Post Graduate School, all while holding a 3.56 GPA.  In fact, he achieved both the Deans Honor Roll and the Presidents Honor Roll.  At the Naval Post Graduate School, he was a System Engineering intern analyzing and developing methods and equipment to advance agricultural development.

Characterized by his faculty as a bright, talented and extremely hardworking student, Frank exhibits great potential for success.  Frank’s dream is to become an electrical engineer building his own engineering firm to further advance agriculture technology like harnessing solar/wind energy on farms or making electric powered tractors.  His work experience and academic tenacity are pushing him toward achieving his dream career.
