Gabriel Rodriguez
California State University, Los Angeles

Gabriel Rodriguez, an electrical engineering sophomore at California State University, Los Angeles (CSULA) is a 2012 HENAAC-Southern California Edison scholarship recipient.

Gabriel has a passion for electrical engineering and takes advantage of all the opportunities afforded him. He takes the time to attend the variety of workshops sponsored by the College of Engineering, Computer Science and Technology ECST for personal growth and development. As a freshman, Gabriel became an active member of the Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement (MESA) Program, and is now considered as asset to the program. He served an integral part as a volunteer in the success of Boeing Day, the kick-off event for MESA. He also became involved with the Society of Automotive Engineers.

Gabriel hopes to apply his engineering education in the development of alternative and affordable methods of power. It could be the creation of a solar generator for large communal use, more efficient solar cells, or the fabrication of flexible solar panels that can be applied anywhere. Gabriel truly believes solar energy is the wave of the future and looks forward to playing a critical role in the development of innovative solutions in energy conservation.
