University of Texas at El Paso

A graduate of Mission Early College High School, a dual-enrollment school, Lucero earned the 2015 Jose R. Silva Memorial Scholarship, sponsored by Raytheon. Upon graduation from high school, Lucero entered the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) as a junior pursuing her mechanical engineering degree. While at Mission Early High School, she had earned her associates degree and had taken courses such at Calculus III at UTEP.

Lucero is the first in the family to atend college, as is proud and excited about the opportunity to further her education. In fact, last year, Lucero was a finalist to the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair held in Pittsburgh, PA. Her civil engineering project tested a new model of bridge trusses.

At her high school, Lucero was actively involved with the Society of Mexican American Engineers & Scientists (MAES), the National Honors Society, Key Club and Environmental Club. However, her main focus was her studies.

As iterated by her faculty, Lucero is a very focused, amicable and mature young lady who is at the top of her class. A quiet leader, Lucero is well on her way to becoming a role model for her community.
