Midshipman 2/C Jenna Becerra      
University of Rochester

Midshipman 2/C Jenna Becerra is a U.S. Navy ROTC cadet at the University of Rochester pursuing an electrical and computer engineering degree. Currently a junior with a 3.15 GPA, she was selected as a 2015 Cadet Role Model and recognized as such at the 27th HENAAC STEM Career Conference, in Pasadena, CA. Her outstanding attitude and performance made her an easy choice for this recognition given her her leadership in a practical manner within a military setting within her Battalion.

Midshipman Becerra serves as a Training Officer, taking control of the implementation of a unit-wide program which will ensure that both her peers and subordinates will have a greater breadth of professional knowledge in preparation for their future naval careers In addition, Becerra works at WRUR 88.5, the University Rochester Radio Station, where as an Engineering and Maintenance Engineer, she oversee the day-to-day activities of online radio stream, live events, and monitors sound equipment.

This past summer (2015), Midshipman Becerra was selected to complete an internship at the Laboratory for Laser Energetics, that conducts world-class research in nuclear fusion. As a research assistant, she focused her work on the conversion of image analysis software with data collected from an X-ray spectrometer.

Outside of the classroom and her research, Becerra currently serves as the secretary of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) student chapter and is a devoted member of the Symphonic Winds through the Eastman School of Music. She is also Red Cross Certified in First Aid and CPR/AED and is a Water Safety Instructor.

Impressively, Jenna has demonstrated great intelligence, purpose, and leadership qualities during her time at the University of Rochester and is highly deserving the recognition of a GMiS Cadet Role Model!
