STEM Civic Service Leadership Scholarships

Great Minds in STEM presents the following scholarships through partnership with community-based organizations or specifically as part of its Viva Technology Program.  Students do not apply through the HENAAC Scholars Portal for these scholarships.  Rather students receive these scholarships based on their STEM Civic Service.

  • National Football Hall of Fame - San Gabriel Valley/Pasadena Chapter - Scholarships of $500 each are presented to Southern California, graduating high school varsity football players, who demonstrate leadership on the field and in the classroom, and will pursue a college degree in STEM.  For more information on the scholarship, please Contact the Foundation.
  • Shell Oil Company - Scholarships of $1,000 are presented to the college student winners of the GMiS STEM Showdown™, sponsored by Shell Oil Company. The STEM Showdown™ brings together teams of pre-college and college students, who work in partnership through STEM-based competitions to gain STEM career awareness.  A scholarship is also presented to the winning high school in order to develop/enhance a STEM club to provide students access to STEM resources long after the event concludes.  Currently, STEM Showdowns are held in New Orleans, LA and in Houston, TX.
