Highly-Competitive Recognition Awards & Scholarships 

Each year, Great Minds in STEM recognizes the most outstanding students for their academic acheivement and leadership. These awards are presented with a scholarship. In addition, GMiS has specially partnered with NAVSEA to provide highly-competitive, $10,000 scholarships to first-time freshmen at a Hispanic-Serving Institution. 

  • HENAAC Student Leadership Awards - Great Minds in STEM selects an engineering/technology graduate student, a math/science graduate student, an engineering/technology undergraduate student, and a math/science undergraduate student to receive the top four HENAAC Student Leadership Awards.  These award are presented to students who demonstrate a highly competitive and well-rounded resume of outstanding performance in their academics, research/teaching, leadership, and community service.  These students represent the highest qualities of a STEM leader, innovator and role model.  Cllck Here for a list of past honorees.
  • U.S. Navy STEM Scholarship (NAVSEA) - This is a highly competitive $10,000 scholarship, awarded by NAVSEA to freshmen (i.e. current graduating high school senior), who intend to pursue a STEM major at a Hispanic Serving Institution.  A Hispanic-Serving Institution is defined as an institution with at least 25% Hispanic undergraduate enrollment.  The scholarship, which does not include any military service, includes the opportunity to apply for a prestigious summer internship at a NAVSEA facility, and the opportunity for automatic scholarship renewal based on satisfactory academic progress.  Click Here for more information on this U.S. Navy STEM Scholarship.
